Safety and Security

The Desert Mountain Master Association's security firm, Anderson Security, plays a pivotal role in making Desert Mountain the safe community it is, which certainly contributes the quality of life all residents enjoy when they are here. In addition to manning the access gates into the community (no easy feat, as 500,000 cars enter and exit the community each year!), Anderson Security performs regular patrols throughout Desert Mountain to ensure parking restrictions and speed limits are being followed.

What you may not know is that Anderson patrol officers will check on your home if you are away for an extended period of time, jump-start your car and remove snakes and other wildlife from your property. They are also trained in emergency response and CPR, which is a great benefit to Desert Mountain homeowners, as the patrol officers will get to you immediately if you need first aid or assistance, and will stay with you until the ambulance arrives. Please call the main gate at 480-595-4338 anytime, day or night, if you need assistance from our community's patrol officers.

Listed below are some safety tips and information that will help keep you safe while you are in residence at Desert Mountain

Walking and Jogging on the Roadways
Because the safety of Desert Mountain residents - pedestrians and drivers alike - continues to be a primary objective of the Master Board and our Patrol Officers, walking or jogging on the main roadways at Desert Mountain is not allowed. Residents are encouraged to use the sidewalks adjacent to the roadways (along Desert Mountain Parkway and Desert Hills Drive) or the trails located in the community when walking, running or jogging.

We offer these helpful hints to keep in mind when you are out exercising in the community:

  • Add the main gate number - 480-595-4338 - to your cell phone and bring it with you in case you need assistance;
  • Know your location in case assistance is necessary;
  • Bring plenty of water; and
  • Beware of wildlife - snakes, javelina and coyotes - when you are outside.

If you require assistance anytime you are out and about in the community, our Patrol Officers can help. All patrol vehicles are equipped with a First-Aid kit in case you are injured and our officers are more than happy to bring you home if requested to do so.

Mountain Lions, Coyotes and Rattlesnakes, Oh My!
Sometimes, being one with nature in Desert Mountain results in the occasional encounter with the wildlife that roam freely (and randomly) throughout the community. Below are links to some helpful hints and information about some of the more common wildlife found in Desert Mountain and what you should do if you come into contact with any of them.

Residents are advised that Anderson Security Officers are trained in wildlife removal and are happy to provide service in this area at your request. Simply call the Main Gate at 480-595-4338 and an officer will arrive shortly to help.

The Desert Mountain Emergency Information System (DMEIS)
If you need to report an emergency situation, or want to learn what is happening in the community, call the Desert Mountain Emergency Information System (DMEIS) at 480-595-4100. DMEIS was created in cooperation with Desert Mountain Master Association and Desert Mountain Properties and is a 24/7-telephone message system. Here's how to use it...

If an emergency has been reported previous to your call, the message you hear will tell you about it. If the emergency has not been reported, please follow the prompts to be connected to the Main gate. The proper agency/authority will be contacted to obtain the status of the emergency, such as how long a power outage is expected.

The message on DMEIS will then be changed to reflect the status of the emergency situation. DMEIS will handle up to 24 simultaneous incoming phone calls at a time.

Call DMEIS when the following situations occur:

  • You see a fire on property or within close (10 miles) proximity of the community;
  • You witness a natural or man-made disaster;
  • Your utility service is disrupted;
  • You are restricted to the community, or within the community; or
  • You need evacuation instructions.

Desert Mountain Speed Limits
Residents are reminded that the posted speed limit on Desert Mountain Parkway is 35 MPH, on Desert Hills Drive it is 25 MPH and on village roads, it's 20 MPH. Please drive the posted speed limits and use caution as some of our residents run, walk and jog on the the Desert Mountain roadways and wildlife also tends to stray there. Safety is everyone's concern and responsibility.
